Another local council is throwing it`s support behind the regional district`s proposal for an alternative approval process for a bylaw to fund a new building for Vernon Search and Rescue.

Armstrong Mayor Chris Pieper says his city values the team’s work.

“Valuable asset to the whole North Okanagan. I know they want to know what to do and where to go and all that kind of stuff, but we have confidence they will find the right place eventually.”

Council will be a sending a letter to the RDNO saying it has no reservations.

“You have to analyze the Vernon Search and Rescue and the valuable work they do for the whole North Okanagan and have confidence that the regional district and the Vernon Search and Rescue will do the best they can.”

Vernon Council also backs the proposal as long as other regions are on board.

Lumby and Coldstream are both hesitant.
