Spallumcheen Ready For Pleasant Valley Road Upgrade

Apr 19, 2018 | 6:48 AM

An upgrade to Pleasant Valley Road will be the big project for Spallumcheen this summer.

4.7 kilometres will upgraded between Highway 97A and the City of Armstrong border.

Mayor Janice Brown says they looked at three options.

“We’ve decided to go with the option without the roundabout. We haven’t really got enough room to put a roundabout there, so we are starting our project and its ready to go,”Brown tells Beach Radio News.

Construction is expected to begin in early May.

“We want to make sure it doesn’t disrupt any businesses. We’ve got a couple farmers and our nursery. We sent sent letters out,” says Brown.

An open house to outline the project will be held April 30th from 3 to 7 pm at the Township Hall.

“It will show them what the scope of the project is, and how long it will take. We hope to be complete by the IPE in September,” adds Brown.

The township is covering a third of the 4.5 million dollar cost, with the rest from the BC and federal governments.
