SD 83 Setting Policies To Guide New Board

The North Okanagan-Shuswap School District is trying to make sure a number of policies are well in place when a new school board is elected in the fall.

Official trustee Mike McKay gave first reading Tuesday night to eight governance policies.

“Trustee code of conduct, conflict of interest, remuneration, those kinds of of things, delegation of authority. It’s a significant piece of work just to make sure that we’re establishing a kind of policy framework that promotes a successful organization.”

Two additional policies, Budget reporting and Monitoring, and Accumulated Operating Surplus or Reserve, were also given first reading.
