Lumby Budget Set

Apr 18, 2018 | 6:56 AM

Lumby village council has approved the 2018 budget and Mayor Kevin Acton says it is good news for residents.

He says taxpayers will see less than a one percent increase in property taxes from the village —
and attributes that to local growth.

“Over 22 million dollars in growth I guess you can say in the net worth of the village due to properties going up in value and new construction.”

Acton says infrastructure projects, including roadworks, are big items in this year’s budget.

” Watermains. There’s some big infrastructure projects coming up. The arena’s going to be a big thing this year for White Valley Parks and Rec. That’s why we saw a bit of an increase there.”

As well, money has been set aside for the Armstrong-to-Sicamous rail trail

Acton says once the regional district and school district portions are added, the tax hike will likely be just under three per cent.
