Motorhome Destroyed In Lumby Fire

Apr 16, 2018 | 10:40 AM

Lumby firefighters were called out overnight to the 4th fire in the region in a week.

Fire Chief Tony Clayton says crews were called about 3 am to a rural property on McInnes Road abut 3 kilometres east of Lumby.

“It was a motorhome, approximately a 35 foot motorhome. Fully engulfed when we got there. There was a little exposure damage to the side of the garage.”

The motorhome was destroyed.

A man living in it was able to get out safely.

Clayton says it’s believed the fire was accidental.

“It’s looking like they had a portable heater and a cushion or something got knocked onto the heater.”

There is a home on the property as well that is occupied.

It was not affected by the fire.

Meanwhile, a fire last week on Brookfield Road remains under investigation.

Firefighters were called to the home twice in one night.

The 2nd time, the house was destroyed.

The cause has been listed as suspicious with RCMP and fire investigators awaiting the results of lab tests.
