RDNO Looking For Input On Swan Lake Plan

Apr 16, 2018 | 6:36 AM

The Regional District is holding an Open House this evening to get ideas from the public on its Swan Lake Commercial Area and Neighbourhood Plan.

The Plan takes in the area east of the highway from the City of Vernon boundary to the township of Spallumcheen and in the area of L & A Road.

RDNO Board Chair Bob Fleming says the process updates the Official Community Plan for Electoral Areas B and C and would add a community sewer system.

“We’re entering into detailed engineering for that plan and trying to move it forward  to the point where we can apply for senior government funding for a project.”

Fleming says the district would like to know what people would like to see with community sewer.

“Things like secondary suites for homes, which we do have some zoning for that on the acreage – sized parcels. We don’t really have  it in place for small lots because of the restriction of septic issues and carriage homes the same thing.”

The district also wants to know what types of commercial or industrial uses would be appropriate in the future.

Bob Fleming hopes to having a full analysis done over the next few months.

:So that the report can come forward and the adjustment to the OCP would take place in the early fall, so September in other words before the election. Our goal is to have this incorporated into the Official Community Plan between August and September of this current year.”

The Open House runs from 5:30 this evening to 7:30 at Vernon Christian Secondary School.

Zoning maps will be up to help give people an idea of how the region breaks down
