Full Closure Begins On Section Of Kalamalka Lake Road In Vernon

Apr 9, 2018 | 6:46 AM

Motorists will have to find a new way to get to and from work for the next three months on Kalamalka Lake Road in Vernon.

A full road closure starts today between Browne Road and the Alpine Centre.

The City’s Transportation manager Amanda Watson says the closure will be 24 hours a day, for 13 weeks, to add a multi-use path.

“They (work crew) have to take up all of the road and install some stone works, and then reconstruct the road and move over and repave. So there is no working space left for through traffic,” Watson tells CJIB News.

Watson says the closure will be 24 hours a day, other than for local residents.

“The people who live in that area will be getting access throughout the day, and at any time. It just won’t be open to through traffic.”

Motorists will hve to use detour routes such as College Way, Husband Road and Aberdeen Road in Coldstream.

“Going up College Way to Highway 97, when I’ve travelled it, it takes me the exact same amount of time as using Kal Lake Road and Highway 6,” says Watson.
