Humboldt Broncos Tragedy Felt Across Hockey Nation

Apr 8, 2018 | 8:27 AM

The hockey community of Humboldt, Sask., will gather tonight to mourn at the home arena of the Broncos junior hockey team following that horrific crash Friday afternoon.

Some of the names of the players and coaches who died have been released in the accident that killed 15 people, including bus driver Glen Doerksen and Broncos play by play announcer Tyler Bieber. (photo lower right)

Fourteen people were also injured when the team bus collided with a tractor trailer at a highway intersection on Friday.

The family of Broncos player Logan Boulet, (photo lower left) who is on life support, says they will donate his organs to six people in need.

The father of one of the injured players posted a photo on Twitter. (bottom left) Holding hands in solidarity from the left are Derek Patter, Greyson Cameron and Nick Shumlanski.

RCMP are reenacting what could have possibly happened as the semi trailer unit would have had to yield to the bus at the intersection.

The truck’s driver was uninjured in the crash and was released after being questioned by police, Saskatchewan RCMP Assistant Commissioner Curtis Zablocki said.

Checking early this morning, a funding effort on the website GoFundMe had raised more than $2.9 million for the players and families affected by the crash.
