Vernon Job Fair Biggest Yet

Apr 4, 2018 | 6:14 AM

People looking for work in the Vernon/North Okanagan will have their best chance at next week’s Vernon Job Fair.

It will be held April 10th at the Vernon Lodge, put on by Nexus BC,Community Futures and WorkBC.

Coordinator Lee Brinkman says they’ve tried to get a wide range of potential employers.

“This year we made a special effort to include employers from all sorts of fields including agriculture, government, health care, hospitality, retail, trades and technology.”

Brinkman says more than 40 businesses will be there with some employers doing their own presentations.

“We’ve got about nine employers signed up for employer presentations and this piece is thanks in part to BC Corrections for their sponsorship of this particular piece of our event.”

Brinkman says they’ll be able to give prospective jobseekers information on what they can expect about the type of work offered along with pay benefits and culture.

The fair runs from 10 am to 3 pm and job seekers will need to be ready.

“Bring lots of resumes with them. prepare to sign up for interviews. It would be wise to do research on the companies they wish to apply to and also practice a sales pitch of your background.”

More than 600 people attended the job fair last year
