Update: Gas Price Lowest in Coldstream

A Coldstream gas station is now offering the lowest gas prices in BC.

Gas Buddy.com says the Centex on Kalamalka Road is selling regular unleaded gas for $1.10 a litre today, two cents less than most other outlets in Vernon.

A person at the station told CJIB News, it’s part of their normal 2 cent a litre discount that they offer on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Vernon area prices have dropped 6 to 8 cents a litre this week in what analysts say is a gas price war that could end at any time.

April 3:

Motorists can’t complain about the gas prices in Vernon.

For a second straight day, the local prices are the lowest in BC, according to the website GasBuddy.com.

The prices have actually gone down a few cents at some stores today, ranging from $1.12, to $1.16 a litre.

That’s almost 20 cents a litre less than what gas is selling for in Kelowna, and 40 cents less than Vancouver.

Analysts say Vernon’s prices are due to a local gas war, which could end at any time.

Vernon has the lowest gas prices in BC.

The website Gasbuddy.com says prices in the city range from $1.13 to $1.16.

A Costco in Prince George was the next lowest price at $1.15.9.

Only a Costco station in Prince George is offering a lower price in BC at $1.15.9

Vancouver and Victoria drivers are paying an all time high of $1.53 to $1.55 a litre.

Just over 1 cent was added to gas prices around BC Sunday for an increase to the carbon tax.

The Canadian average gas price is $1.26, the highest since the fall of 2014.

Dan McTeague of Gas Buddy says there will be more increases for everyone as outlets switch over to costlier summer blended fuels.

“No corner of the country has escaped the effect of higher fuel prices, and with more on the way, there is now little doubt that its long term effects will be felt on the wider economy with higher prices for both goods and services. Should pump prices remain an average of 15 cents a litre higher for 2018, drivers will have had to spend an additional $250 to $300 just to get by,” says McTeague.
