Certainly No Needle in a Haystack

Mar 25, 2018 | 9:50 AM

As the snow is almost melted, what keeps popping up is discarded needles being discovered all over the city, causing much concern over the safety of our children.

This from the Facebook page of a group called Okanagan Community Watch.  Yesterday from 12-3, they summoned volunteers from the community to assist in the clean-up of sharps and other hazardous materials littering areas frequently populated by children.

Volunteers were to be spread out in teams and designated to various hot spots to maximize efficiency and had no problems finding needles at all.

Each team must have 1 volunteer trained in:

-Blood born pathogens
-First Aid/CPR
-Valid drivers license and willing to drive a potential puncture victim to hospital.

They are always looking for more qualified community minded volunteers.  More information can be found on their Okanagan Community Watch Facebook page.
