Gas Leak At Silver Star

Fortis BC has capped a natural gas leak at Silver Star Mountain.

Tanya Laing Gahr, corporate communications advisor with Fortis BC, says a large amount of snow slid off the roof of the Silver Creek Lodge Hotel, and damaged a gas meter going into the building, and also damaged a gas line.

“We had to remove the snow that was around the line so we could access it and do repairs. IN the meantime, the Silver Star Fire department evacuated the hotel,” says Laing Gahr in an interview with CJIB News.

Laing Gahr says the crews were able to turn off the gas and are making repairs which should be done later tonight.
