Coldstream Seeks Tourism Vision

Mar 19, 2018 | 8:37 AM

The District of Coldstream and its Tourism Advisory Committee are working on development of a tourism vision.

In essence they want to put their own stamp on what tourism is for Coldstream.

Mayor Jim Garlick says Coldstream doesn’t directly benefit from tourism, but manages it.

“And how do we manage it and what face do we put forward to the rest of the area. Rather than letting other organizations putting that forward
of what they want to see in our area, we said okay, let’s take the initiative.”

Garlick says vision planning would help prepare for when someone comes in with a tourism business idea.

“We’d like to actually put some thought into, okay what would be acceptable here, where would be be acceptable. Ahead of time have that conversation.”

He see the rail trail as gateway for tourism, along with Kal Park And Kal Beach.

The effort now is how to move forward and benefit both residents and other people.
