Protest Planned For Sagmoen Appearance

Several protesters are expected to be on hand this afternoon for Curtis Wayne Sagmoen’s court appearance in provincial court in Vernon.

A judge is to deliver his decision on Sagmoen’s bail request.

Sagmoen faces several charges in connection with assaults on two women working as online escorts.

Protest organizer Jody Leon says people are coming in from Merritt and Kelowna and she is expecting people from other areas outside the region as well.

“Some people will be down from the Vancouver area. As well from different areas from Silver Creek, you know the community, Salmon Arm, Enderby, Armstrong, Vernon.”

Leon says they want to get the message out to end violence against women and keep the voices of women who are gone alive.

“Keep things in the limelight. To keep the voice of the women who are gone so that people will be encouraged. You know, we are seeing all the time in the news pleas from people who are working on the cases for people to bring facts forward.”

Jody says they will also be there for Traci Genereaux.

“Bringing the message “Justice for Traci.” You know we want to find out what happened with her and to have resolution to that issue so the family can have closure.”

The remains of 18 year old Traci Genereaux were found on the farm owned by Sagmoen’s family, but no direct link has been made to him
