RDNO Out Of Silver Star Resort Proposal

Feb 22, 2018 | 10:12 AM

The issue of a creating a resort association at Silver Star is back in the hands of the group pushing for it.

Regional District Directors have agreed to a modified proposal that would leave lands owned by the RDNO and lands used for utilities out of a levy system that would be imposed.

RDNO Board Chair Bob Fleming says the task force behind the plan came back to the board after  the district planned its own poll of residents.

“The process is that the task force has proposed a set of bylaws and so on and they’ve proposed a map area to include in the resort association, which is essentially the entire mountain.”

The task force will conduct a new petition which would then go directly to the provincial government for approval after a vote.

” And they need to get 50 per cent of the property owners in number, well, 50 plus one, and also 50 plus one of the value of the property. So, There’s two tests.”

The RDNO is no longer involved in the process.
