Heavy Snowfall Warning for Higher Elevation Passes

Environment Canada and Drive BC have implemented a snowfall warning in effect for the Coquihalla and Highway 3 in particular.

Predictions have now been upped to 20 to 30 centimetres expected to fall on the Coquihalla from Hope to Merritt and on Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass.

Environment Canada says this even has the possibility of accumulating up to 50 centimetres of snow by the end of tonight.  Also as the weather system passes through, there may be a significant risk of freezing rain.

They advise it’s best to avoid travel along these routes today, unless absolutely necessary, because of the poor visibility and extreme weather conditions associated with this system as it passes through.
