Let’s Talk Pot
The Vernon Public Art Gallery is looking to clear the air about issues surrounding marijuana legalization.
Executive director Dauna Kennedy Grant says the gallery will host a community conversation on the issue the night of Nov. 16th at 6 pm.
“Everyone seems to have so many questions with the legalization that’s coming up next year, so we thought it was a good opportunity to have this exhibition inspire some real community discussion.”
Kennedy Grant says their current exhibition called ‘Cultivate’ sparked the idea for the forum.
“It’s by Tara Nicholson. She’s an artist who photo documents hidden landscapes and then presents them to the public, and this particular one happens to be on cannabis production,” says Kennedy Grant.
Reps from community policing, business, local grower Rus Stevenson , and UBCO professor Zach Walsh will take part.
Andrew Powell from Nixon Wenger Lawyers will be the moderator.
“It’s not only going to impact our personal lives, it’s going to impact the business world as well. We just found there’s a lot of questions out there so this is a good opportunity to ask some different people some questions,” adds Kennedy Grant.
