Shamrocks Down Tigers to Capture 2026 Rowcliffe Cup
Vernon, BC – The North Okanagan was well represented in the 2026 Rowcliffe Cup Final on Sunday afternoon as the Armstrong Shamrocks and Vernon Tigers squared off at Kelowna Memorial Arena.
Armstrong punched its ticket to the championship game with a dominant 21-5 win over the Kamloops Rattlers on Saturday, while Vernon earned its spot with an 11-7 semifinal victory over the host Kelowna Raiders later that evening.
Sunday’s final was a tightly contested battle for much of the afternoon. The Shamrocks held a 2-1 lead after the opening period and carried a 5-2 advantage into the third before the Tigers mounted a late push to make things interesting.
Owen Barker led the way offensively for Armstrong with two goals and two assists, while Logan Strohm and Kyle Versteeg each chipped in with two goals and one assist in the championship win.
Vernon was paced by Jordie Barr, who finished with a goal and three assists, while Ryan Johnson recorded a hat trick and added an assist. In goal, Brodie MacDonald was under heavy pressure throughout the contest, facing a barrage of shots as Armstrong directed more than 80 attempts toward the Tigers net.
With the victory, the Shamrocks captured the 2026 Rowcliffe Cup and continued their run of league success, having now won six of the last nine Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League championships. Their previous title came in 2024.
