Kelowna RCMP Bust Illegal-Legal Grow Op

Nov 8, 2017 | 10:27 AM

Kelowna RCMP drug investigators have put a stop to a marijuana growing and trafficking operation allegedly connected to the Hells Angels.

The Kelowna Street Enforcement Unit received information October 28th from the Nova Scotia Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit regarding a property located in the Paret Road area of Kelowna.

It was believed a significant quantity of marijuana was being stored at that location and available for purchase.

Police say that although the location was a licensed and legal personal marijuana growing operation, under the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations the weed was being sold as well.

The marijuana was allegedly being harvested and sold to members of the Hells Angels organization.

Armed with a search warrant, police went in last week on two occasions and seized more than 64 pounds of marijuana bud and 94 mature cannabis plants ready for harvesting in a shop on the property.

The investigation is still ongoing as Kelowna RCMP continues to work with Nova Scotia CFSEU and their ongoing organized crime investigation.

The Nova Scotia authorities were involved in  nine-month investigation that led to the arrest and charges against two Hells Angels Motorcycle Gang members from Nova Scotia and Ontario.
