Highway To Close This Afternoon

Highway 97A north of Swan Lake will be closed in both directions around 1 pm today to allow BC Hydro crews to replace wires across the highway.

The site is near the rock quarry in the 300 block of Highway 97A.

The closure will last 20 minutes, and there won’t be a detour.

“We want people to be aware of it because it’s really slippery here,” says Robert Cowell from the traffic control service.

The repairs are needed after a power pole caught fire after a tree fell on a line Thursday.

The work site is already down to single lane traffic in both directions.
