Board Puts Off Resort Decision
The Regional District of North Okanagan board needs more information before deciding if it will support a controversial change at Silver Star.
A task force is looking to establish a resort association to create more marketing funds for the skill hill, which would require some residents to pay an annual levy.
RDNO director Doug Dirk says the board has deferred its decision until they find out more about the affected area.
“We need to find out what is in and what is out legally, as well as getting clarification on the bylaws and some of the concerns,” Dirk tells Kiss FM.
Dirk says the board will hold a meeting in the next month to decide if it will support the plan or not.
“And that doesn’t mean the province won’t have a role in it, but it first has to go through RDNO. If it doesn’t go through RDNO, it doesn’t go to the province.”
A public hearing on the issue Wednesday packed the RDNO boardroom and lasted nearly five hours.
