Kiss FM is proud today to make a donation to the Salvation Army for its annual Christmas hamper program

The Kiss FM Santa Toy Club presented the Salvation Army’s Stefan Reid with a cheque for $3,500 to the Army’s toy room.

“And with this money we’re able to provide hope for many kids whose parents may not be able to afford the gifts to give them. And we just want to give that little bit of extra Christmas cheer during this time of the year and because of this donation we’re able to do that,” says Reid.

The money will be used to purchase gifts based on what the Christmas hamper list shows what is needed.

Applications for Christmas hampers are being handed out now and people can sign up to receive a hamper November 27 to 29th.

Reid says the need is great this year.

“The need this year is the most that I’ve seen since I’ve been here. Because of the wildfires this summer it made our summer extremely busy. More people came in through our doors.”

The annual Kettle Drive begins in a couple of weeks.

“So our kettle program will be starting November 23rd and we’ll be at 13 locations this year. We have some exciting news to release in the next week or so. We’re excited for what we’re able to do for Vernon this year.”

The goal for this year’s campaign is 500 thousand dollars.

Anyone wishing to sign up for kettle shifts can apply at www.vernonhouseofhope.com.

Stefan Reid if anyone wants to come by the House of Hope or the warehouse to help pack hampers, they’re more than welcome.
