Armstrong Prepares For Christmas Lightup

A major change for Armstrong`s annual Downtown Lightup this Christmas season.

The Chamber of Commerce has decided not to hold a parade this year.

Mayor Chris Pieper says interest has been down the last few years.

“Primarily because of the participation of the Pioneer Tractor Club. Insurance requirements for them to move their antique tractors around has become very expensive.”

But there still will be celebrations the first week of December, starting December 1st.

“We`ll have the kids from the schools coming down and decorating the tree which they’ve done in the past and then they`ll have a Santa Claus thing in the evening. Then the following Saturday on December the 8th we`ll have a Family Day downtown.”

Mayor Pieper says It`s good to have people be part of the downtown and enjoy the activities.
