Vegas Victim Faces Online Abuse
An Okanagan man who survived the Las Vegas shootings has faced a hail of criticism — even death threats — through social media.
Braden Matejka of Lake Country is still recovering from taking a bullet to the head during the Oct. 1 incident where Stephen Paddock killed 58 people attending a country music concert.
Relatives of the 30 year started a GoFundMe account to help with his expenses, which his family says led to online comments accusing Matejka of lying, that he was a con artist, a ‘crisis actor,’ with some even threatening him.
Matejka — who works for Great West Equipment in Vernon — ended up cancelling his social media accounts, but even his family members have been taking online abuse.
