The RCMP Southeast District Major Crimes Unit and Vernon North Okanagan RCMP has confirmed, that human remains have been located as a result of the ongoing search at a rural property on Salmon River Rd, in the North Okanagan area of BC.

RCMP Corporal Dan Moskaluk said in a news release Saturday evening that investigators with the RCMP Southeast District Major Crimes Unit and Vernon North Okanagan RCMP were able to confirm that during the course of executing a search warrant at the property in the 2200 block of Salmon River Road, human remains have been located.

The RCMP and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate the discovery of the human remains.

This matter it is being treated as suspicious at this time.

The Southeast District Major Crimes Unit has now taken lead in this investigation.

No further information is being released at this time.

The search began at the property west of Enderby on Thursday.

Police would not say what they were looking for, nor would they confirm the search is related to a warning RCMP issued more than a week ago concerning an alleged incident in August in which a Vernon woman said she was threatened by a man with a gun.

At the time, police said the complaint was lodged after a man and woman used a website utilized by escorts and sex trade workers to meet at a Salmon River Road property.

The woman was able to escape.

A suspect in the incident is in police custody pending a bail hearing October 26th.

Thirty-six year old Curtis Wayne Sagmoen faces six charges.

Police have not confirmed Sagmoen is connected to the property.

Neighbours of the property say there had been a heavy police presence in the area during the past couple of weeks.
