Resort Association Proposal For Silver Star Includes Tax

Silver Star is looking to form a resort association which will be the subject of an upcoming public meeting.

Regional District of North Okanagan board chair Bob Fleming says it would change the way the resort is marketed.

He says participants are currently charged a fee.

“And that is pooled for the purposes of marketing the resort. This format, the change, the resort association means they get to tax for that, so it’s a little bit different format.”

Fleming says the proposal would tax all properties on the mountain.

The resort’s task force will make its case for the change — and get public input — at RDNO’s committee of the whole meeting Nov 1st.

“We are not going to get the version of their proposal before they present it,” says Fleming.

He says RDNO is sending letters to all affected property owner with notice of the meeting.

“It’s kind of like a public hearing. Anyone who has something to present has to do it at that meeting.”
