September Weather: Cooler But Still Dry

The Vernon area could still use more rain to replenish water supplies after the area’s driest summer on record.

Doug Lundquist from Environment Canada says the lack of rain in September didn’t help much.

“We only had about 9 millimeters of rain. We usually get 37 mm, which is basically about a quarter of what we normally get for September.”

Lundquist says the average temperature was 16.3 degrees Celsius.

“It’s usually 13.7, so almost 3 degrees above average. It was much warmer than usual, but it wasn’t in the top 5 (warmest all-time) though.”

Lundquist says the highest temperature in September was 35 degrees on Sept. 2.
