Water main renewal to impact traffic for several weeks

An infrastructure project will cause some traffic interruptions in Vernon.

A water main renewal project will done along portions of 43rd Avenue and 31st Street.

The work will be done in phases starting Tuesday, October 13, with work done on 43rd Avenue between 32nd and 29th Street, and on 31st Street between 43rd and 45th Avenues. That portion of the work was expected to take three days to complete, with the roads closed during that time.

Following that crews will begin Phase 2, which will see 31st Street between 43rd and 45th Avenues closed for the remainder of the work.

The work will be done weekdays between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. with the goal of having it completed by November 6, barring any unforeseen delays or complications.

Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained during construction.

The work was expected to impact local traffic and motorists were advised to avoid the work areas, but were also reminded to be careful of workers and equipment when travelling through construction zones.
