Tigers Host Lacrosse Championship

Aug 3, 2017 | 1:00 PM

The Vernon Tigers host the Junior B lacrosse provincials this long weekend at Kal Tire Place.

The host Tigers will take part along with the Kamloops Venom, who won the Thompson Okanagan League, the Coquitlam Adanacs, winners of the West Coast League, and the Westshore Bears from Victoria, champions of the Pacific Northwest League.

“We have a round robin. Every team plays each other, and the best result will play for medals on the Monday. The bronze medal game will be at 9:30 am and the gold medal final is at 12:30 pm,” says Duane Barr, Tigers GM.

Barr is hoping fans will come out and watch the games.

“We’ve got a great support group that comes now. They love the Vernon- Kamloops rivalry and we’re going to meet them on Sunday the 6th at 12:30 pm,” Barr tells Kiss FM.

The Tigers lost a hard fought Thompson Okanagan final to the Venom in the maximum five games, and winning the decisive game 10-9 in overtime.

It costs $25 for a weekend pass (8 games), or $10 each day.
