The annual music festival that marks the start of a 16 day celebration of all things arts and culture kicks off Friday.

Sundog Festival of Arts and Culture opens B.C. Culture Days in Vernon with live music at Polson Park.

The festival launches with a free DJ Dance Night that will see Jodie B, DJ Miss Demeanour, and Sign of Sanctuary take to the stage.

Sundog continues Saturday with a day of events and entertainment. The full schedule can be found online here.

With the festival taking place over the weekend, the City of Vernon reminded people that there is parking at Polson Park and street parking downtown is free after 5 p.m. However, people were also asked to cut down on traffic by carpooling, cycling, or taking a public scooter or public transit to the celebrations, which will have a bike and scooter valet service on location.

The festival also marks the start of B.C. Culture Days, which will also see a range of entertainment and activities offered throughout Vernon and the North Okanagan, ranging from public art pieces to craft groups to live music and theatre. The schedule and details on what’s on offer through the celebration can be found here.
