Job-A-Palooza to feature dozens of booths, heavy machinery simulator

The second annual fall job fair in Vernon will have a new hands-on experience.

WorkBC’s Job-A-Palooza will go at the Vernon Lodge September 26.

The event will feature over 30 booths from local employers presenting to those exploring new career avenues and opportunities.

“These are employers who are keen to meet and hire local talent, so it’s a great chance to get your foot in the door whether you’re a recent graduate or you’re curious about exploring options or a change in careers,” Johanna Currie of WorkBC Vernon said.

Additionally, this year’s event will host The Road Show, a trailer equipped with simulators for people to virtually test drive heavy machinery, including a snowplow, an excavator, a backhoe, and a wheel loader.

“The Road Show is a really exciting addition to our job fair because it’s such a great introduction to some rewarding and in-demand careers,” Currie stated.

Additionally, people are encouraged to visit the WorkBC office ahead of the Job-A-Palooza where they can access free assistance to hone their interview skills and spruce up their resumes.
