It was noted that these concerns come as flows in Bessette Creek remain below the levels needed to sustain the Chinook salmon population, which triggered a temporary fish protection order in late August, and as both Chinook and Sockeye salmon have been observed migrating to Okanagan Lake and the surrounding areas.

People were urged to continue following their local restrictions and find ways to reduce water use to support water supply and reduce potential impacts to fish habitats.

The River Forecast Centre noted the remainder of the week should see more precipitation in the Southern Interior, but the forecast then calls for a drying trend across most of the province over the following week.
