Premier Eby blasts Trump tariffs

Premier David Eby is lashing out at U.S. President Donald Trump over tariffs on Canadian goods, calling them an extraordinary attempt to force Canada to bend to his demands.

Eby made the comments during a media availability at a B.C. Liquor Store in Vancouver on Tuesday.

“If you are angry, I am angry too,” Eby said. “We have been nothing but good to the United States.”

Eby says the tariffs are an “extraordinary attempt” by the president to force Canada through any means necessary to bend to his “whims and his will.”

He says Canada will continue to stand up for its interests as the trade dispute with the United States continues.

Eby also used the media availability to thank B.C. Liquor Stores for supporting people affected by the wildfires in Summerland and the surrounding area.

He says B.C. Liquor has been soliciting donations for the Canadian Red Cross while also prioritizing and promoting products from Summerland.

“B.C. Liquor has stepped up to support the people of Summerland and the area affected by the wildfires,” Eby said.

He thanked the retailer for helping support the community during the wildfire crisis.
