Five fatal overdoses in Vernon, 138 in B.C. this June
Vernon saw a relative surge in illicit toxic drug deaths this June.
The B.C. Coroner’s Service said there were five suspected fatal overdoses in the North Okanagan community in the latest reporting month.
That was up from three deaths in May, and brought the year-to-date fatality number up to 11. The Coroner’s Service did not record any drug-related deaths in Vernon in February or April.
Kelowna also had eight deaths in June, up from three in May, for a year-to-date total of 37 fatal overdoses.
