Two separate fires burning on west side of lake, evacuations ordered

Quilpituk Creek Wildfire

A second wildfire started on the west side of Okanagan Lake in the early hours of Sunday. This is in addition to the one burning near Bear Creek Provincial Park.

BC Wildfire personnel and North Westside Fire Department were responding to this incident along with a night vision helicopter and a belly tank capable helicopter.

The 40-hectare blaze sparked just before midnight at the Quilpituk Creek area, forcing the evacuation of properties in the area north of Nahun and south of La Casa. 

Several more are on evacuation alert.

Blue Grouse Creek Wildfire

Meanwhile, the wildfire burning near the Bear Creek Provincial park to the northeast of West Kelowna was measured at 20-hectares and considered to be smouldering Saturday night.
