Vernon piloting new trail, facility signage
Vernon is exploring new wayfinding sign options for the community.
At the meeting on July 20, Vernon City Council directed staff to run a pilot project that would see new signage installed along the 30th Street and 29th Street active transportation corridor from Highway 6 to the Village Green Shopping Centre. The signs would use the same style signs at the new Active Living Centre, and would be funded through the approved 2026 Transit and Active Transportation Infrastructure Program.
Staff was also tasked with reporting back following the pilot with recommendations for a city-wide new signage project that included a detailed cost estimate and funding strategy.
In tasking the staff with undertaking the first phase of this project, council heard the new signs would have two colour schemes, either light blue or pale green; be reflective; and could include trail grading ratings, mainly green circles indicating easy terrain, consistent with the ratings used at other trail networks in the RDNO.
