Victor Cumming seeking third term as Mayor of Vernon
The Mayor of Vernon will throw his hat back in the ring and look to win a third term in his seat.
Victor Cumming announced he would run for mayor again in the fall election.
In a release, the Cumming said a lot had been accomplished over the past eight years under his leadership, including “delivering on the community’s referendum for the Active Living Centre (to be opened in the fall), tourism growth, housing growth (2300 units), much enhanced light industrial spaces providing sites for new and growing enterprises, upgraded transportation infrastructure for vehicles and other modes, wastewater treatment systems, and new and improved parks.”
He went on to say he was able to enhance relationships with other nearby communities and was an effective advocate in representing Vernon to the provincial government, which led to “vast improvements in social housing, wildfire risk reduction activities in our drinking water catchment lands, in capital projects funding and approvals, and in joint advocacy on Valley-wide transportation infrastructure.”
