Downed Power Lines Cause Small Fire Lumby Side Of Mabel Lake

What was thought to be a small out of control fire just south of the Lumby side of Mabel Lake is no longer an issue.

Lumby Fire Chief Tony Clayton says the fire started last evening when wind knocked down a power line in the 2300 block of Mabel Lake Road.

The fire was out of Lumby’s jurisdiction but the Wildfire Service asked them to check it out.

“Local civilians, residents pretty much had her down pat when we got there.”

After that it was a matter of waiting for BC Hydro to de-energize the line.

“Once Hydro showed up and confirmed wires were de-energized then our guys just kind of blanketed the whole area with water.”
