Civic Sounds For Charity

Jul 24, 2017 | 11:17 AM

The weekly Civic Sounds in Civic Plaza is going to do its part for charity.

The first of two charity nights at Civic Sounds this season is taking place this Thursday July 27th.

Concert attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food and cash donations in support of the Salvation Army Vernon Food Bank and kids camping program.

The Salvation Army will be onsite to collect donations both this Thursday and at the last Civic Sounds concert on August 24th.

Downtown Vernon Association Events & Promotions Coordinator Hailey Rilkoff says the food bank is an extremely important community resource year-round.”

“We need to support our food bank during the summer months, especially with the large number of fire evacuees in the region who are using the food bank and social services,”

This week, another special event is taking place at Civic Sounds – the Okanagan Military Tattoo is hosting a special Tattoo Preview starting at 6:30pm in Civic Plaza.

Come downtown early and get a sneak peek at what’s to come this weekend.

Eight weeks in July & August the Downtown Vernon Association and Civic Sounds sponsors present free outdoor concerts in Civic Plaza.

Civic Sounds is sponsored by the City of Vernon, Bannister Honda, Telus and 107.5 Kiss FM.
