Hydro Crews Work Round The Clock Getting Power Back On

Jul 24, 2017 | 9:20 AM

BC Hydro says about 18 thousand customers were without power at rthe peak of Sunday evening’s windstorm

Hydro’s Jenn Walker Larson says the outages stretched from Salmon Arm and Enderby over to Revelstoke, Golden and down to Lumby.

“Well, we’ve made some good progress, so we have 3500 customers out now, primarily in the Salmon Arm, Revelstoke and Golden areas.”

She says a lot of trees brought power lines down, some poles are down as well.

“We’re just getting a handle now on sort of where all the issues are and mobilising crews, again because of course the guys working overnight are now on rest so we’re just getting in more resources.”

Walker Larson says the new crews will be sent to araes in need most after the overnight teams got more than 14 thousand customers back on.

“We do prioritize the work to get as many people on as we can and the critical infrastructure. Sometimes it takes as you go down the list, you’ve got smaller and smaller pockets of customers affected.”

It’s not clear how long it will take to get everyone else back on
