‘Tough Week’ For Local At BC Amateur
Matthew Kreutz from the Vernon Golf Club finished in 53rd at the 115th BC Men’s Amateur Golf Championship at Morgan Creek in Surrey.
Kreutz, who attends Minot State University, had rounds of 76, 69, 77 and 79.
“Tough week for me. I had one solid round, but couldn’t keep the momentum throughout the week. The course was in great shape and it was a fun venue to play in,” Kreutz told Kiss FM.
Kreutz finished 52nd at the event last year, and was 37th in 2015.
The Coldstream resident finished a shot ahead of 13-time BC Amateur champ Doug Roxburgh of Vancouver, and was paired with Roxburgh for his third round.
Three other North Okanagan golfers, Brandon Chai of Coldstream (Predator Ridge), Lake Country’s George Wilkins (Predator), and Jaden Steinke of Vernon, failed to make the cut.
The event was won by Jake DuVall of Victoria.
