Update: Semi Hits Cow, Runs Into House

An Armstrong homeowner thought his house had been hit by lightning or an earthquake.

It was actually a transport truck that went off Highway 97A after hitting a cow around 2 am

It went into Philip Marchand’s yard on Hunter Avenue, destroying a deck, hitting a hot tub and coming close to running into a bedroom

Marchand and his wife were in another part of the house and were not hurt.

The male truck driver was taken to hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.

RCMP are continuing their investigation into the collision.

“The Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP in Armstrong responded to a single vehicle collision involving a semi-truck pulling B-train trailers, which had plowed into a house along the highway after hitting a cow,” says Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

“The incident occurred when the northbound truck struck a cow on Hwy 97A just north of Harding Rd. The male driver of the truck lost control and crossed the opposing lanes, down and over the opposing side ditch, through a yard, then driving into a home on Hunter Ave, in Armstrong.”

A B-train semi-trailer truck driver suffered injuries overnight after his truck hit a cow on Highway 97-A in Armstrong.

RCMP say the accident happened about 2 o’clock near the Tim Horton’s at 97-A and Harding Road.

The force of the collision disabled the truck’s steering, causing the driver to lose control.

It then veered off the road into the backyard of a home on Hunter, slamming into the back deck and rear of the house.

The dead cow was then hit by at least two other vehicles, disabling one of them.

The occupants of those vehicles were not hurt.

It’s not known where the cow came from.

It’s going to take some time before the truck can be removed from the yard of the home.
