Smoke…But No New Fire Says Service

The smoke in the air around Vernon has sparked a few calls about a possible new wildfire — but the BC Wildfire Service says, as far as it’s aware, there isn’t one.
Kiss FM has had a few calls about the smoke, most noticeable northwest of Vernon.
Justine Hunse, an information officer with the Service tells Kiss FM, there is no new fire in the area.
“We have gotten a few calls from concerned members of the public about the visible smoke in the area, but there is nothing in our systems showing a new fire in the area, and it’s likely from the fire in Lake Country,” says Hunse.
