Enderby gas station dropped its price temporarily in a “customer appreciation” sale

Commuters in the North Okanagan lined up for a rare chance to fuel up for half price Wednesday afternoon.

Social media lit up May 7 as the Quilakwa Canco station off Highway 97 started selling regular gasoline at 99.9 cents per litre for a few hours in the afternoon.

“It was just a fun customer appreciation [kind of thing], and it was fun for the staff” Janet Willment, the gas station’s manager, told Vernon Matters.

“We just decided to try to pull some of the traffic back this way off the highway and have a little blast back in time.”

The sale did cause traffic to be backed up as people lined up down the highway in both directions to get the chance to fill up on the cheap fuel, but Willment said they had traffic control personnel out to manage vehicles and that there were no accidents caused by the sale.

She also said there was a “little bit of back and forth” with other stations dropping their prices Wednesday in a mini gas war, but the main purpose was to offer a sale to customers.

The gas station manager also said this may not be their only sale this summer, though would not share when people could see another price drop.

The sale was over by Wednesday evening and the fuel price was back up to $187.9/L as of time of publication.
