Kelowna’s City Park waterfront pathway set to reopen after major upgrades

Kelowna’s City Park waterfront is set to welcome residents and visitors back to a key stretch of its shoreline pathway following months of upgrades aimed at improving access, safety and environmental protection.

The City will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, May 15 at 1 p.m. to mark the official reopening of the pathway between the Cold Sands washroom and the Bernard Avenue entrance. Mayor and council are expected to attend, and the public is being invited to take part in the celebration.

The section of pathway closed in fall 2025 to allow for a range of improvements, including the separation of pedestrian and recreational transportation routes, upgraded lighting, new benches, additional trees and landscaping, and improved water access near Cenotaph Plaza.

Along the shoreline, the project also included environmental enhancements designed to strengthen long-term resilience of the waterfront.
