The Regional District of North Okanagan is aligning with the province in issuing fire bans.

These restrictions align with those being put in place by the B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS).

Class A (Category 3) open burning refers to burning piles of debris that between three and 10 metres in diametre. Class B (Category 2) refers to open burning of debris piles three metre in diametre and two metres in height.

The restrictions also prohibit the use of items such as burn barrels and cages, fireworks, exploding binary targets, controlled air incinerators or air curtain burners.

The bans do not apply to small, confined campfires or to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.
