Canadians Konga, Taylor look to hear their names called on final day of NFL draft
Canadians Rene Konga and Logan Taylor will have to wait a little longer to learn where their NFL futures lie.
Neither Konga, of Ottawa, nor Taylor, of Lunenburg, N.S., were selected Friday night when NFL clubs made their second- and third-round picks. The final four rounds will be held Saturday.
Both Konga, a defensive lineman at Louisville, and Taylor, an offensive lineman at Boston College, were projected as Day 3 selections heading into the draft.
On Thursday night, the Los Angeles Chargers took Miami edge rusher Akheem Mesidor, of Ottawa, in the first round, No. 22 overall. Mesidor became the sixth Canadian-born player to go in the first round but first since 2019 when the New England Patriots selected Arizona State receiver N’Keal Harry, who was born in Toronto but moved out of the country at a young age and grew up in Arizona, with the 32nd pick.
