Fire Relief Effort Heats Up
More donations are being sought to help BC’s fire evacuees.
Chris Brown of Vernon is leading a local effort to collect items that will be delivered to the reception centres up north.
“What they’re looking to get right now in Prince George are toiletries, feminine products, new pillows and blankets for the cots they’ve set up, as well as any type of dog, cat or animal foods,” Brown tells Kiss FM.
Hay for horses is also needed.
“They’ve got 230 horses that have been rescued and they’re quickly running out of hay, so we’re trying to find a way to get hay up there.”
He also says fire crews need donations of masks, socks, water, Gatorade and protein bars.
Brown, who operates CM Renovations, says the items can be dropped off by Thursday at 6 pm at Cloverdale Paint on 44th Avenue, or at any Capri Insurance location in Vernon, Kelowna and Lake Country.
“If we end with more and need to make a second trip, I will do that.”
