MAPLE RIDGE — Two men have been arrested and charged in relation to a 2022 homicide in Maple Ridge, B.C., where a 33-year-old man was killed in what’s believed to be a targeted attack.

Homicide investigators say a 26-year-old man from Maple Ridge was arrested in March and charged with manslaughter and break-and-enter in the death of Cory William Thomas on Aug. 12, 2022.

Police arrested a second man from Maple Ridge last Saturday, and the 27-year-old accused has been charged with second-degree murder, break-and-enter and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm.

The 2022 killing saw Mounties respond to a shooting at a home in the 11900 block of 216 Street in Maple Ridge, where Thomas was found with gunshot wounds and died despite receiving emergency treatment.

Police have not released any more details in the case other than that investigators believe the shooting was targeted and linked to the local drug trade.

Homicide investigators say no further details will be released because the matter is now before the courts.
