NEW YORK — The NHL has fined Calgary Flames forward Ryan Strome US$5,000 for cross-checking, the league announced Wednesday.

The incident occurred 45 seconds into overtime of Calgary’s 4-3 loss at Dallas on Tuesday.

Strome was assessed a double-minor penalty for high-sticking the Stars’ Jason Robertson.

Wyatt Johnson scored on the ensuing power play as the Stars completed a comeback from a 3-1 deficit.

The fine levied against Strome is the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement between the NHL and the NHL Players’ Association.

The Flames (32-36-9) are set to return to action Thursday night at Colorado.
